In 1972, Jerome, Bruce, and Mark Urbanosky, with the help of their parents, opened a feed store in Pearland, Texas. At the early ages of 19, 17, and 15, these young entrepreneurs enjoyed steady growth and success in their business. They subsequently opened two more stores in Tomball, Texas and Conroe, Texas. It was then the corporation, American Superior Feeds, was established.

Under the American Superior Feeds brand, a horse feed supplement, Stride Equine Diet Balancer, was developed. Stride’s incredible results led to national success, and a decision was made to expand into the feed manufacturing business. In 1982, American Superior Feeds purchased a large, modern feed manufacturing facility in Ardmore, Oklahoma, and began operating it as Bluebonnet® Milling Company.
