11/2007
Expansion in Oklahoma allows company to
increase efficiencies and consolidate operations.
ARDMORE, OKLA. — Bluebonnet Feeds LP, a leader in
producing new and innovative products for all types
of livestock including cattle, equine, poultry,
pets, show animals, caged birds and numerous other
species, has completed improvements at its
multi-species feed mill in Ardmore, allowing the
company to increase the mill’s capacity and
efficiency.
Key improvements to the plant include a new mixing
system, three new robotic stackers, new distributors
and transfer piping on main elevator, new clipper
=cleaner, grinder, roller mill, mixer and a revamped
electrical system.
“These major improvements in Ardmore allow us to
increase capacity at the mill by 25 percent,” said
Bill Stuever, president and general manager of
Bluebonnet Feeds. “The expansion also supports our
vision of offering only the highest-quality
nutrition for all species, and continuous
advancements through innovation and technology.”
Stuever said improvements at the plant cost
approximately $2.5 million.
The plant in Ardmore was selected for improvements
because it is ideally situated in Bluebonnet Feeds’
marketing territory. “The Ardmore facility is more
centrally-located and its surrounding transportation
infrastructure and location makes moving feed and
ingredients in and out of the plant quite
efficient,” Stuever said. Ardmore is located about
half way between Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas, and
Oklahoma City, Okla.
With improvements at the Ardmore facility complete,
the company said it will close its facility in
Brownwood, Texas, which is southwest of Dallas-Ft.
Worth, effective November 5th, 2007.
Bluebonnet Feeds LP acquired the Brownwood facility
in 2005.
“The additional capacity and other improvements at
our Ardmore facility allow us to consolidate all
production to Ardmore, where we can operate more
efficiently and effectively as a company,” Stuever
said.
Customers and dealers will not see any changes in
service or support as a result of the planned
consolidation. “We will continue to offer the same
high-quality feed products backed by sound nutrition
and technology that they’ve come to expect from
Bluebonnet Feeds,” Stuever said.
