Gut Reset™ (paste & powder) can support a balanced microbiome during times of stress. It is a mega-dose blend of probiotics, prebiotics, mannanoligosaccharides, yeast cultures, and beta-glycans. Gut Reset™ can be used to effectively return normal function of the digestive tract and stimulate appetite. Some of its benefits are:

Omega +™ is a potent anti-inflammatory that provides essential fatty acids linoleic and linolenic acid, as well as EPA and DHA found in fish oil. This formula provides a critical balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. These two specific forms of omega 3s, EPA and DHA, are both preferred forms that the body does not have to convert. They are essential meaning they are supplied through the feed and the body can't make it on its own.

When should I use the Hind Gut Rescue Program™?

The Hind Gut Rescue Program™ is built around stabilizing the microbiome. When things get unbalanced, a lot of things go wrong downstream - attitude, weight, condition, coat, manure, immune function, even stress tolerance.

Good times to reach for it:

  • Stress events - injury, illness, travel, new barn, herd changes, seasonal shifts.
  • Feed or hay transitions - hindgut bacteria need time to adapt, and the program smooths that out.
  • After antibiotics, dewormers, or NSAIDs - which can interfere with good bacteria populations.
  • A horse that's dropped weight or condition without an obvious cause.
  • Chronic loose manure.
  • Suspected leaky gut.
  • Poor nutrient absorption - when a horse is eating well but not thriving.
  • Allergy tests that report multiple low-grade positive results.

 

My horse tested positive for a lot of allergens. Could it actually be a gut issue?

Gut issues can look like allergies because it is an immune reaction. Undigested proteins crossing a damaged gut wall trigger the same kind of hive, itch, and respiratory responses people associate with allergies. The gut may be the root cause, not the allergen itself.

Signs that suggest digestive issues rather than true allergy:

  • Unpredictable triggers & reactions
  • Multiple "sensitivities"
  • Reactions that got worse after antibiotics, NSAIDs, or a stressful event
  • Poor coat, loose manure, or body condition issues alongside the allergic signs
  • Symptoms that flare with stress or diet changes

Signs that suggest a true allergy:

  • Consistent reaction to one specific, identifiable trigger every time
  • Reaction doesn't improve when you support the gut
  • Clearly environmental (dust, mold, pollen) rather than diet-related
  • Responds well to steroid or anti-histamine therapy

The practical test: if you support gut health aggressively for 60-90 days and the "allergies" improve significantly, leaky gut was driving it. True environmental allergies won't budge with gut support.

How do I maintain the progress I made after using the Hind Gut Rescue Program™ ?

Every horse is different! Some horses don’t need any additional support beyond their usual feed program. Feeds in the Intensify line or Equilene Pro Care may include enough digestive support for those individuals.

For higher maintenance or sensitive horses, Gut Reset™ powder or Lifeline+ Equine can be great maintenance support.

Can the Hind Gut Rescue Program™ cure ulcers?

Only veterinary-prescribed medications have been proven to cure ulcers. Gastric ulcers are a foregut issue, and treating them properly usually requires a vet diagnosis and medication. The Hind Gut Rescue Program™ supports the hind gut microbiome through balancing beneficial bacteria, nutrient absorption, and inflammation reduction.  

What the program can do is support the gut environment around and after ulcer treatment. This matters because the hindgut often takes a hit during the same period a horse develops gastric ulcers.

If ulcers are what's keeping you up at night, Gastro pHix™ is the product you want on your radar. This is not a substitute for omeprazole, but a great support option.

Is it safe to feed Hind Gut Rescue Program™ with ulcer treatment medication?

Yes! If you have confirmed that your horse has ulcers, we recommend following the full prescribed treatment, and sticking to what your vet advises. The Hind Gut Rescue Program™ is a great support option to use alongside ulcer treatment, as they work well in combination.

The Hind Gut Rescue Program™ and omeprazole work on opposite ends of the GI tract.

  • Omeprazole, esomeprazole, sucralfate, misopristol, and many others work in the stomach, not the hind gut.

  • The Hind Gut Rescue Program™ helps correct any imbalances that might be occurring in the hind gut's microbial populations.

My vet or nutritionist suspects Leaky Gut. What should I do?

GI Intensive Care™ is our “heavy hitter” for leaky gut, and we usually reserve it for severe cases, such as horses with chronic diarrhea. While you can start with GI Intensive Care, many customers opt to start with the Hind Gut Rescue Program™.

Where do I even begin?! This program has been a game changer for my 5 year old gelding that struggled with topline and weight gain. He had a weak immune system, low energy, and his hair coat was dull and coarse. 22 days into the program he’s a completely different horse. He has put on weight, his topline has improved significantly, his energy level is improved, hair coat is shiny and soft, and the warts around his muzzle are disappearing. Love these products and will never feed anything else!

My thoroughbred suddenly lost a good amount of weight over the beginning of winter. He always had an excellent appetite, had 24/7 hay tested hay and gets blue bonnet equilene pro care twice daily. I was at a loss. He never had lost over winter like that before. I got a nutrition consult immediately and the hind gut reset program was recommended. Let me just say I was blown away by the results!! These pictures were taken about 25 days apart and you can see the vast improvement! He’s gained and is holding weight well, is cribbing less when he’s in his stall in the evening and he feels overall more comfortable in his abdomen when grooming! He even seems more alert and excited for my riding lessons and hacks! I am so pleased with the results I’ve seen when using this program! Considering this is the only change I made to his routine, the results speak for themselves! I was a little skeptical of the product at first and the price. Once I received it I realized that you got so much product, and it lasted way longer than the 21 days. My mare went from bloated looking and cinchy, like couldn't brush her stomach or flank area with out her pinning her ears, to not bloated and not at all cinchy. She doesn't get much grain just Pro Balance and alfalfa and never finished her alfalfa. She is now running up to the barn at feeding time, eating all of her alfalfa. She's running her best times at barrel runs and just overall seems so much happier and comfortable.

11 year old gelding treated for EPM for 6 months in 2019. Over the winter he lost a lot of top line and dull hair coat. He was put on a mineral supplement and given a series of polyglycon injections. In the Spring of 2020 he was put in a training program. His condition improved but his top line was still lacking. Started him on the hindgut and now his top line is amazing and has really blossomed. Will begin the Lifeline after completing the hindgut. I plan on doing the hindgut on another horse and will put all my horses on the Lifeline.

WOW! I was so surprised by the palatability of these supplements and how easy it was to follow the program! The horse I purchased this program for is not my most picky eater, but even then she has her moments with certain feeds. Right from the start, she was just fine with the addition of these supplements into her Bluebonnet Omega Force. I noticed a significant improvement in her softness under saddle and her willingness for lateral movement. I also noticed that she did not show the classic "bloat" after eating near as much.
